Habitat’s newly crafted collection features a curated selection of furniture made in small batches by skilled artisans. Built using solid wood, natural stone, hand-forged metal, and quality textiles, each piece is crafted using traditional joinery, upholstery, and hand-finishing techniques, blending old-world craftsmanship with clean, contemporary design.
While available in quantities, production remains intentionally boutique and limited, crafted slowly, with care, to preserve the quality and heritage of handmade work. These are tomorrow’s heirlooms, timeless pieces rooted in traditional craft, contemporary design, and made to last.
Habitat’s Reclaimed collection features newly crafted furniture built from reclaimed wood, most often sourced from rural villages, barns, and historic structures. Naturally aged and full of character, each board tells a story rich with patina, texture, and the marks of time.
Skilled artisans transform these repurposed materials using traditional joinery and hand-finishing techniques, blending age-old character with thoughtful, contemporary design. While available in multiples, no two pieces are ever exactly alike, each one shaped by its past and made to last well into the future.
Sustainable, soulful, and full of personality, these pieces bring history into the present with style and purpose.
Our best-selling case goods are crafted in the heart of Northern China, a region steeped in a centuries-old tradition of furniture-making. For over a decade, we’ve partnered exclusively with a single, small, family-run workshop that blends time-honored techniques such as mortise-and-tenon joinery and hand-planed surfaces with a deep respect for natural materials.
Our workshop specializes in reclaimed woods like Elm, Northern Pine, and Poplar, salvaged from old buildings and developing villages. Each piece tells a story, full of character, texture, and authenticity. Unlike mass-produced imports, our furniture is never machine-made or molded. These are heirloom-quality pieces, made slowly, by hand, using skills passed down through generations.
While the phrase “Made in China” can carry certain assumptions, our pieces proudly defy those expectations, offering exceptional craftsmanship, soulful materials, and a deep sense of place.
